The Days of Polish-German Cooperation is an annual event organized by the City of Szczecin, the aim of which is to highlight and develop cross-border cooperation with German partners in the fields of culture, education, economy and social life. It is a space for meeting, exchanging experiences, presenting joint initiatives and building new partnerships between Szczecin and German cities, municipalities, institutions and organizations.
Dom Kultury “13 Muz” has been actively developing Polish-German cooperation for years. Its special value is the diversity of its activities — from wide-ranging projects — film series through contemporary communication channels, to face-to-face meetings, youth exchanges and joint artistic activities. They are united by one goal: to bring people on both sides of the border closer together and to build a sense that the Polish-German border is a common space of life, culture and cooperation.
For many years the Youth Theatre Studio Teatr Uhuru, operating in the House of Culture “13 Muz”, has been implementing international projects together with partners from Germany. Young people participate in workshops, festivals and theatrical and artistic activities, getting to know their peers on the other side of the border. The most important value of these projects is personal contact, exchange of experiences, overcoming language barriers, learning about the culture of both countries and building lasting relationships that often turn into international friendships. In 2026, we also expanded this cooperation with the participation of seniors from the Senior Art Salon, giving it an intergenerational dimension.
The second direction is cross-border projects implemented under the Interreg VI A Mecklenburg-Pomerania/Brandenburg/Poland 2021-2027 Cooperation Programme. Thanks to the use of the Internet, their effects can reach a wide range of recipients on both sides of the border.
In the years 2024-2026, the Culture Center “13 Muz” realized two digital projects “Theme River/Thema Fluss”, dedicated to the Oder as a common space of the Polish-German border, and “Lecim za Szczecin/Lass uns jenseits Szczecin fliegen”, presenting the places, stories and heritage of the region on both sides of the border. The latest project is “About Good Neighbourhood/Über die gute Nachbarschaft” — a series of video podcasts devoted to contemporary Polish-German relations, realized in connection with the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Good Neighbourhood and Friendly Cooperation.
These projects would not be possible without commitment and good cooperation with our closest German neighbours and partners, including Amt Gartz (Oder), Krackow Municipality and Grambow Municipality.
Interreg projects allow us to go beyond a direct meeting — to perpetuate common stories, to document cooperation and, thanks to digital tools, to reach a much wider audience with the story of the Polish-German border.
Both directions of our Polish-German activities complement each other. On the one hand, we build relationships through direct meetings of people, on the other — we use modern media so that the effects of this cooperation can reach further and remain available for longer.
During our event within the framework of the Days of Polish-German Cooperation 2026, we want to show the diversity of our cross-border cooperation. We will present the implemented projects, their participants and partners, as well as tell about the experiences gained during their implementation. Above all, however, we want to show the greatest values and benefits of Polish-German cooperation — both for participants and for institutions and local communities.
During the event we will present, among others:
Projects based on direct meeting and exchange:
— German-Polish Schultheaterfest School Theatre Festival in Schwedt
— German-Polish Theatre Festival “DramaTuere” in Heringsdorf
— International Summer Workshop 2026 at WannseeForum in Berlin
— the international project “Creative Europe” at the Bildungs- und Begegnungszentrum e.V. in Schloss Trebnitz
Interreg cross-border projects:
— “River Theme/Fluss Theme”
— “Lecim za Szczecin/Lass uns jenseits Szczecin fliegen”
— “About the good neighborhood/Über die gute Nachbarschaft”
We will also present an example of cooperation in which Dom Kultury “13 Muz” participated as a partner supporting another Polish-German project. As part of the project “Sounds of Culture/Klang der Kultur” in Woddow, Germany, the wind orchestra of the House of Culture “13 Muz” — Szczecińska Trzynastka performed. The project was implemented by the Stargard Association “However Possible” and Kirchengemeinde Brüssow.
We want the October meeting to be not only a presentation of what has been achieved, but above all a conversation about what remains thanks to these projects - relationships, experience, new partnerships, mutual trust and friendships that do not end with the completion of projects.
The meeting will be hosted by: Maja Olendzka and Janusz Janiszewski
Venue: Fireplace Room
Admission is free
