Venues: Fireplace Hall and Enter Gallery
April 9 (Thursday) we invite you to the opening of the exhibition — free admission. The start of the event at 17:00 in the Fireplace Hall.
The opening will be preceded by a few minutes performance of the Dance Ensemble “Arabeski Bis” (of which Lena Żbikowska is a member) of the Association of the University of the Third Age in Szczecin and a few minutes concert on the harp of a student of the State Music School I degree. After that, a multi-minute multimedia presentation on the preparation of the paintings for the vernissage is provided.
The exhibition is open until May 8 from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00 and during the events — free admission. On May 1-3 (Friday-Sunday) the exhibition will be closed.
The exhibition is inspired by Szczecin — its historical buildings, unique architecture and aesthetics of the urban space, which for years has been building the identity and unique character of the city.
The paintings depict the characteristic places, sights of our city. They show iconic products related to Szczecin and those that make up its brand.
The exhibition is based on a single theme, divided into several different interpretations. The thematic unity was presented in three different versions in the technique of watercolor and acrylic on paper:
“The 16 paintings depict a vision of graceful women in hats. Their clothing attribute — a hat — is not just an ordinary headdress. This is another hero of the collection shaped and embellished by the architectural fabric of Szczecin.
The event combines a reflection on the beauty of the place with an attentive look at its inhabitants, seen as a natural complement to the urban landscape: full of grace, confidence and sense of style.
— The next few images are inspired by the photographic work of Damian Róża — a renowned photographer from Szczecin who carries out projects related to capturing in the camera lens the unique architectural objects that make up the urban landscape of the capital of West Pomerania.
— The next part of the artistic vision of historical Szczecin is the result of a trip to Portugal, the fascination with traditional ceramic azulejos tiles adorning the facade of numerous buildings in many Portuguese cities.
Lena Żbikowska — painter, amateur. Retired physical education teacher. She discovered her passion for painting just before the age of sixty. Her late artistic debut is a conscious choice — she treated her retirement as a gift, an opportunity to freely explore the beauty that she has only captured in passing throughout her life.
