11th UFF - BKF: Fairy Tale, Barbie.ru

Fairytale

Genre: documentary Director, screenplay: Jakub Stankiewicz Photography, editing: Jakub Stankiewicz Production: Belsat TV Country/year/time: Poland/2026/40'

Victor lives in a dugout in a big forest. He himself is part of this forest. He was born in a village that lived as it had been centuries ago. And although the place has disappeared irrevocably, it still resonates in his consciousness. Historical wounds, both fresh and old, hurt Victor so much that he has to express his pain through images.

The film tells about an artist from Podlasie and like any fairy tale — it is a bit optimistic, mystical and tragic at the same time.

A provocative, short satire about the collision of pop culture myths and artificial ideas about an ideal world with the brutal reality of Eastern Europe. With his own grotesque wit and black humor, the director draws a sharp portrait of contemporary illusions, identity and the influence of propaganda and alienation on the individual.
