Lech Majewski opens up to us the world of Jacek Malczewski, a painter-symbolist from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In a visual dialogue without words, the director recreates the romantic history of Poland from the First World War until today. Characters from Malczewski's canvases march through the next decades, fighting and fleeing from under successive yokes. They travel through Siberia and the endless fields to reach a modern, urbanized reality immersed in apathetic consumption.
It is a unique, dialogue-free work inspired by Jacek Malczewski's painting. With the help of animated characters from the canvases of the famous symbolist, the director creates a visual dialogue about the history of Poland over the past two centuries.
