“Soul of Tango” is a musical monodrama that evokes the life of Carlos Gardel, the man who gave tango a voice. On stage, one actor recreates his childhood in Toulouse, emigration to Buenos Aires, meeting José Razzano and the birth of tango.
The play intertwines word, theater and music, showing Gardel not only as a myth, but also as a son, a friend, a man. He leads the audience on a musical journey through the most important moments of his international career, films, touring until his tragic death.
Felipe Céspedes plays Gardela and sings in this poetic tribute in which immortal classics resound: “El día que me quieres”, “Volver”, “Por una tête”, “Mi Buenos Aires quiero”.
It is a theater intimate, minimalist and full of strength, where voice, guitar and accordion are enough to evoke the soul of tango.
