Every breath you take Every move you make Every bond you break Every step you take I'll be watching you (The Police)
1984, George Orwell's dystopian novel, written in 1948, is one of the most famous books of the 20th century.
Orwell described a society subjected to control and surveillance, where every step of a citizen is tracked by Big Brother. It is an analysis of totalitarianism, the mechanism of oppression and its roots in human nature.
Today 1984 is a thing of the past for us, but with horror we discover the convergence of social systems into a system of total control, which, however, is not outside us, but incorporates us inside as active elements that feed the system with the energy of its comfort and need for pleasure.
What is immutable and fascinating (it was in 1948, it was in 1984, it is in 2018 and it will be in 2081) is something in the human being, in our heads, in our daily behavior, that forces us to love power and desire precisely what dominates us and what puts us in control.
Translation: Polish translation of the novel “Rok 1984" by Tomasz Mirkowicz was used.
