The Chamber Ensemble of North-Eastern and Afternoon Music ProForma has been operating in Olsztyn since 2000. A dozen singers under the direction of Marcin Wawruk in a short time achieved the status of one of the leading Polish choral ensembles, thanks to stylish interpretations full of expression and joy of music and a carefully selected repertoire, in which, alongside the works of former and contemporary composers, author's elaborations of Polish poetic songs, Polish traditional music occupy an important place and a Christmas Carol and a Pastoral.
The ensemble is distinguished by its unique approach to music, taking care of the multiplicity of shades and nuances of performance, drawing both from the noble tradition of classical music and from the exuberant expression of entertainment music. ProForma has performed in many countries of Europe, South America and Asia, is also a laureate of several dozen national and international choral competitions (including the most valuable trophy of Polish choral music: “Golden Lute” of the National Choral Tournament LEGNICA CANTAT), and as a finalist of the international radio competition “Let the Peoples Sing” in London, appeared on the airwaves of the whole world.
ProForma cooperates with the Polish Radio, the National Forum of Music and with other professional cultural institutions in Poland and abroad; he has performed in many prestigious venues, including the National Philharmonic, the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio, the Agnieszka Osiecka Radio “Tróki” Studio. He took part in music festivals, television and radio productions, as well as in the musical performance Niemen, from which material was published on the band's first CD: Niemen à cappella, published by Polish Radio.
ProForma performs and records with the stars of Polish song and jazz as well as with chamber and symphony orchestras. A unique place in the history of the band is occupied by the collaboration with the legendary vocalist Bobby McFerrin during concerts promoting his album Vocabularies (2010). The result of this meeting are multi-voice improvisations in the unique technique of “circle-singing”, practiced by the ProForma team at concerts.
Olsztyn Bel Canto Choir was founded in 1996. It is a team working in an association formula. In total, over the past 30 years of work, he has performed more than 500 concerts in the country and abroad. He has participated in 37 music competitions and festivals, winning 47 awards and laureate titles. In addition, the band has world and Polish premieres of numerous compositions, including the world premiere of Miłosz Bembinov's Stabat Mater, Magnifikat Warmiński by Artur Żuchowski or Missa Magna Beatyficationis by Michał Lorenc. In 2005, in the concert hall of the Podlasie Philharmonic and Opera in Białystok, he performed the inaugural concert of the International Festival of Church Music with the Polish premiere of the Liturgy of St. John the Golden, op. 41 by P. Czajkowski. An important event was also the reading of the composer's manuscript and the premiere of Felix Nowowiejski's Missa de Lourdes opus 49. No. 5 in November 2017. The choir's repertoire includes more than 300 a cappella songs and over 50 vocal and instrumental works, including Symphony No. 9 — L. van Beethoven, Symphony No. 2 in C minor “Resurrection” — G. Mahler, Missa pro pace — W. Kilar, Beatus vir — H. M. Górecki, Carmina burana — C. Orff, Stabat Mater and the Balm Harnasie — K. Szymanowski, musicals West side story — L. Bernstein, My fair lady — F. Loewe, oratorio Finding the Holy Cross — F. Nowowiejski. He participated in the staging of the operas Tosca and Gyganeria by G. Pucini, J. Rossini's Cyrulik of Seville, the operetta The Princess of the Czardo by I. Kalman, and performed a concert version of the opera Traviato G. Verdi and many others. A great success of the choir was to be part of the official Polish musical delegation at the celebrations of the beatification of John Paul II in the Vatican and Rome in May 2011. Together with the Polish Radio National Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, the choir took part in the thanksgiving mass in St. Peter's Square and performed the world premiere of Michael Lorenzo's Missa Magna Beatyficationis in the Roman Church of St. Ignatius. Since 2016 he has participated in the annual edition of the Masurian Opera Festival Belcanto in the amphitheater in Mrągów performing numerous famous opera, operetta, musical choirs and works from the field of entertainment music. In 2026, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage honored the choir with the bronze medal Merited to Culture “Gloria Artis”. The conductor of the ensemble since the beginning of its existence is Jan Połowianiuk, professor at the Institute of Music, dean of the Faculty of Art of the University of Warmia and Mazury.
Jan Połowianiuk, conductor, choirmaster, professor at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, dean of the Faculty of Art. In his conducting career so far, he has led four choirs, with which he has performed in more than 600 concerts in Poland and abroad). He has participated in numerous national and international music competitions and festivals, winning a total of 48 awards and laureate titles, including several times the individual award of the best or distinguished conductor. He is appointed to the jury of national and international choral festivals, including since 2022 he has been a member of the jury of the prestigious International Festival of Church Music in Hajnówka (Poland). For his work in the field of culture and higher education, he was awarded honorary medals, including the Golden Cross of Merit, the medal “Meritorious for Polish Culture”, the bronze and silver Medal of Merit to Culture “Gloria Artis” and the medal “100th Anniversary of Polish Independence”.
Maciej Łojewski is a graduate of the State High School of Fine Arts in Olsztyn and a distinguished graduate of the Faculty of Art of the University of Warmia and Mazury, where he obtained a master's degree in art. As a versatile artist, he works at the border of directing, cinematographic art and education, combining commercial practice with academic activities and author's artistic research.
He built his professional experience as the founder of a film studio implementing commercial video projects and the author of music videos for well-known figures of the Polish music scene. Currently, his creative work focuses primarily on documentary film forms. As a multimedia artist and co-creator of the Thera Pa collective, he creates installations that combine moving image with sound, and his work includes numerous solo and collective exhibitions.
In parallel, he develops an academic career. At the Faculty of Art of UWM, he worked as an assistant in a photography studio and realized the author's idea of creating a studio of Audiovisual Forms at the Institute of Fine Arts. Since 2024, he has also been teaching social marketing at the Jagiellonian University, where he also collaborates as an expert at the Institute of Entrepreneurship. In her teaching work, she is guided by the mission of sharing practical knowledge in the field of film, photography and modern media.
