Sunday, October 18, 10.00—11.00: Origami lecture — hobby, art or something more? | Multifunction room
Most often, the art of folding paper is associated only with simple models of animals or airplanes, which once proudly filled school corridors. However, it turns out that origami can offer endless possibilities for artistic expression, as well as the potential for development in areas that directly affect our lives. What path has the classic crane traveled to become an inspiration for engineering that saves human existence? We invite you to a fascinating story about the beauty and potential of origami paper.

During unique drawing workshops, participants will create humorous illustrations. The protagonists will be selected animal figures, inspired by origami figures. Sunday, October 18, 12.00—13.00: Lecture Paper Culture in Japan | Multifunction Room
Japanese washi paper has its place in many traditional Japanese arts — calligraphy, painting, woodcarving and, of course, origami. Historically, many accessories, everyday objects, as well as artifacts of religious significance were made from it. Japan itself is sometimes called the civilization of wood and paper — in a traditional Japanese room you will find paper scrolls, lanterns and sliding doors. We invite listeners to learn about the rich history and fascinating process of making washi paper.
Sunday, October 18, 14.00—15.00: workshops We fold not only paper. Workshops with furoshki scarves | Conference room, Galeria Europa — Far East
Despite the fact that the star of the event is paper in this case, it is not the only thing that can be folded. Square furoshiki scarves have accompanied the Japanese for hundreds of years and are an unprecedentedly timeless tradition. You can wrap valuable gifts in them, giving them the rank of the highest elegance, but they are also useful in packaging everyday purchases or lunch boxes. The scarves themselves are also an invitation to explore the rich world of traditional Japanese patterns and colors. During the meeting, a brief history of furoshiki will be introduced, we will look at the meaning of individual patterns and we will practice in practice selected proposals for making bags and packages.
We ask interested persons to send their application by e-mail to the following address: edukacja@manggha.pl. In the title of the message you need to write: “We fold not only paper. Workshop with scarves furoshka 18.10”. In the body of the email, please indicate: name, surname and age of the participant.
