2026 Soane Medal Lecture

Join us for this special event celebrating our 2026 Soane Medallist, Farshid Moussavi, at the Royal Academy of Arts.

Farshid Moussavi, OBE RA (b.1965) is an internationally acclaimed architect and educator, and recipient of this year's Soane Medal, which is awarded annually in recognition of architects, artists, critics and educators who have made a major contribution to their field.

She will collect her award at The Royal Academy in London on 24 November 2026, where she will deliver a lecture that is open to all.

About Farshid Moussavi Born in Shiraz, Iran, Moussavi studied at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, University College London and Dundee University. She has since maintained a longstanding involvement with academic institutions and was head of the Institute of Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. She has also held teaching posts at the Architectural Association in London, the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam, the Hoger Architectuur Instituut Sint-Lucas in Gent, and in the United States at Harvard, UCLA, Princeton and Columbia University.

In 2011, she founded award-winning Farshid Moussavi Architecture (FMA), with recent built projects including the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) in Cleveland, USA; La Folie Divine apartments in Montpellier; Îlot 19 multi-tenured housing at La Défense-Nanterre, Paris, and Harrods Toy Department in London. Her largest project to-date, which FMA won through an international competition, is the Ismaili Center Houston in Texas, USA, completed in November 2025. Renowned for her personal sense of style, Moussavi also designed Victoria Beckam’s flagship store in London’s Mayfair. She is an author of four books, with her most recent, Architecture and Micropolitics (Park Books) published in 2022.
