Genova & DimitrovAs soon as you hear the first piano chords, you fall in love — this is how the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote about the piano duo Genova & Dimitrov with delight. International Piano London magazine described their play as exceptional. In turn, the American Record Guide described their latest Claude Debussy trilogy • Complete Works for Piano Duo (OehmsClassics/Naxos) as delightful and placed it on the Critics' Choice Best Of list. At the end of 1995, the artists caused a huge sensation, winning in just two years in four major international piano duet competitions: Munich (ARD), Miami (Dranoff), Tokyo and Caltanissetta (Bellini). Since then, Genova & Dimitrov have been among the world's most respected piano duets. Their recitals and performances with renowned orchestras and conductors on the most important stages of the world are met with enthusiastic reception from both the public and the critics. The duo's long-term mentor was the legendary pianist Vladimir Krajnev from the University of Music in Hannover, where the artists completed postgraduate studies (Artist Diploma), and later leadership of the piano duet class. They regularly sit on the jury of prestigious international competitions, conduct master classes around the world and perform in numerous television and radio programs. Genova & Dimitrov can boast an impressive discography — their 21 albums (released by OehmsClassics/Naxos, cpo and Gega New) receive consistently enthusiastic reviews and awards from international music media. In addition to a number of world premieres, the recordings of 11 concerts for piano duet with orchestra also caused a real sensation. The artists were honored with the Echo Klassik award and the French CHOC de Classica distinction, and were also repeatedly nominated for the German Critics' Prize (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik) and the Opus Klassik Award. Sergei Rachmaninoff's two-disc album • Complete Works for Piano Duo (cpo) was praised by Italian magazine Musica, which described it as an explosion of musicality. Die Zeit called the album Amy Beach • Complete Works for Piano Duo revolutionary, and Die Welt am Sonntag raved about it, comparing it to a box of the noblest chocolates. BBC Music Magazine capped its enthusiastic review of this premiere recording with the statement that it is an album that needs to be heard. Fono Forum magazine honored Carl Reinecke's debut three-disc album Complete Works for Two Pianos (cpo) with the prestigious Star of the Month award, describing the duo Genova & Dimitrov as an outstanding band at the top of the championship.
