During the workshop, the body will become a place where images, roles and expectations are written down. We will treat the archetypes of femininity present in myths, art and culture as impulses for movement — we will not play them out or illustrate them.
We will be interested in what arises between personal experience and the cultural image of femininity. How does the body move, which is trying to get out of the imposed role? What is left in the gesture when the story disappears?
The workshop takes the form of a practical meeting with movement and imagination. Dance experience is not needed. Mindfulness, willingness to experiment and work with your own body without the pressure of technical correctness will be important.
Please bring comfortable clothing to allow for free movement.
Echoes of Femininity: Movement, Archetypes, Narratives is an artistic project by Karolina Wyrzał.
Karolina Wyrzał, performer, choreographer and visual artist living in Berlin. A graduate of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in the United Kingdom and the Artist Training Digital Basic — Performing Arts program at the Universität der Künste in Berlin. In the years 2008-2012 she was associated with the Polish Dance Theater, and in 2012-2023 she worked as a dancer and pedagogue in Cia. Tula Limnaios. She is a scholarship holder of the MKiDN and the Culture Moves Europe program and the winner of the Creative Scholarship of the City of Berlin in the field of performing arts. In 2026, during her artistic residency at CK Zamek in Poznań, she created More Units Than Meaning, an installation-performance presented as part of the Malta Festival. She creates at the intersection of choreography, performance, installation and film and conducts workshops on movement composition and performative practices.
Information for people with special needs
Workshops include free movement in space and optional tasks performed on the floor. Each exercise can be adapted to your own capabilities and performed at an individual pace.
No strobe lights, smoke, blackouts or sudden, very loud noises will be used during the event. Music will be played at a moderate volume. The workshop will be conducted in Polish.
