About the event

December's Krakow Poetry Salon in Gdańsk will be devoted to the work of Stanisław Barańczak — his poetry, translations and poetic jokes. In the program “When the ear does the eye” we will hear texts interpreted by Dorota Lulka and Piotr Michalski. The music will be provided by Zbigniew Kosmalski.

The creators of the program invite you to discover the musicality of Barańczak's poems, the finesse of his translations and the virtuosity in operating the form. We will also look at translation as an act of interpretation — this is how the poet himself perceived it.

There will be no shortage of humor, linguistic surprises and the opportunity to listen carefully. As the creators of the meeting announce, they want to “reach through the ear of the listener to his heart.”
