On January 31, 2027, the 35th Final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Aid will be held to once again support the youngest patients.
Theme of the final:
“Today?! The health of the newborn is the most important!”
Auschwitz headquarters no. 6259 will operate traditionally in the Oświęcim Cultural Centre.
Details about the final will appear successively on our website.
Fewer and fewer children are born in Poland, but a significant part of births is associated with an increased risk of complications. Women decide to become mothers later, twins and children conceived thanks to infertility treatment are more often born, premature births remain an important problem - nearly 20 thousand premature babies are born annually.
The perinatal care system is gradually changing - the number of small wards is getting smaller and smaller, neonatal and perinatal care will be less dispersed.
In light of the expected changes, care will be more concentrated in larger hospitals — so-called third-level referral centers — responsible, among others, for the supervision of high-risk pregnancies and births and the care of premature babies, children with birth defects and other newborns requiring intensive care. This is justified by experiences from other countries, which show that when the most severely ill newborns and pregnant women are dealt with by the syndromes that see such patients on a daily basis, more children survive, who develop better.
The neonatal intensive care units in these hospitals, in addition to seeking to improve the quality of care, must be prepared in the coming years to receive more newborns requiring specialized care. Diversified, modern equipment is essential at every stage: from the delivery room, through intensive care units, transport, to nutrition and supporting the role of parents in neonatal wards.
The programme covers interrelated areas. Their common goal is to have more children saved and a better quality of their continued lives. Many elements are a natural continuation of what WOŚP has been doing for Polish newborns for years.
Among the equipment planned for purchase are, among others:
tables for resuscitation of newborns
Respiratory function monitors
videolaryngoscopes
modern neonatal respirators
Impedance Tomography Apparatus
NIRS monitors
HerO systems for heart rhythm analysis
incubators to safely kangaroo the smallest premature babies
Ambulance N
breast milk analyzers for branches and milk banks
