“4000 Days” is a warm, comedic story about life's compromises and love directed by Wojciech Malajkat. The author of the play is Peter Quilter, who celebrates triumphs around the world with the comedy “Divine!”. This time, in a somewhat reflective and thoroughly humorous way, he portrays the conflict between the artist suffering from amnesia, his hard-walking partner and his possessive mother. Outstanding performers on stage: Ewa Wencel, Grzegorz Daukszewicz and Patryk Pietrzak.
When Michael wakes up from a coma, it turns out that he does not remember the last eleven years of his life. He has no idea who the man claiming to be his partner is, he does not understand why he stopped painting.
Paul fights hard to restore Michael's memory, he does everything to bring back their shared memories. Carol has always hated Paul, so she takes advantage of the situation to get her son back and get the intruder out of the family picture. He constantly provokes Paul to conflict.
While a “mean” mother and a “foreign” friend fight for his favor, Michael tries to understand who he is. In search of a creative impulse to life, he decides, without asking anyone for permission, to paint a mural on the wall of the hospital room. Will a bold creative act restore his memory? Faced with the possessive love of two people close to him, will he make the right choices?
The world premiere of the play “4000 Days” took place in 2016 in London's West End, arousing very enthusiastic reviews among critics.
Peter Quilter achieved international success as the author of the acclaimed musical drama “End of the Rainbow”, which tells the story of Judy Garland. The Oscar-winning film “Judy” with Renee Zellweger was also created on his canvas. In turn, the play “Divine!” (“Glorious!”) about the famous Florence Foster Jenkins received a nomination for the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award in the category “best modern comedy”.
