**Broadside Hacks present a live run through of The Last Waltz, featuring very special guests to be announced**
After The Band’s keyboardist Richard Manuel suffered a severe neck injury from a boating accident in 1976, which caused the Band to cancel a number of scheduled performances, guitarist Robbie Robertson decided that he was through living out of a suitcase and stated unequivocally that he would no longer tour with the Band.
By September, Robertson conceived of The Last Waltz, a “farewell concert” to be held on Thanksgiving Day at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, which included turkey dinner for the audience of 5,000 attendees. The event was filmed in 35mm and directed by Martin Scorcese, and in addition to the Band performing their greatest hits, they invited a stellar cast of guests to participate in the concert, including Paul Butterfield, Bobby Charles, Eric Clapton, Neil Diamond, Dr. John, Bob Dylan, Ronnie Hawkins, Muddy Waters, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Ringo Starr, Ron Wood, and Neil Young.
