The show combines poetry, prose, fairy tales and dramatic and metaphysical works by Miłosz, posing existential questions about humanity and its place in an infinite universe. At the same time, he explores the depth of love and loneliness, the premonition of death, the search for light and harmony, and the passage of time. At the center is the figure of the poet — a fascinating figure who makes our world both more complex and easier to understand.
In his journey, he evokes an imaginary double — the famous dramatic figure Don Juan — from fragments of a play written by Miłosz in his youth, full of hunger for life and desire to conquer the world. These scenes alternate with fragments of the later drama “Miguel Mañara”, in which the main character, Don Juan of Seville, seeks redemption.
This extraordinary universe of Miłosz is brought to life by Wilson's poetic vision, constructed of disturbing, subjective abstractions and evocative stage images. Actors create universal characters, revealing the complexity, beauty and absurdity of the human soul. We follow the figure of the poet, observing the creation of the worlds of his imagination, the creative process and the limits he crosses. Wandering between doubt and wonder, exploring undefined spaces that will remain a mystery, it leads us to a freedom available only to poets — to the infinite goal of eternity.

The show is one of two productions from Robert Wilson's legacy that will premiere after his departure. A month before his death (July 31, 2025), the artist finished directing and designing the performance, entrusting his collaborators to bring the work to the stage.

The works of Robert Wilson were called “theatrical architecture”, in which light, gesture, form, sound and tempo play the most important role. They were not particularly focused on meaning or message. What was important in them was not what was said, but how what was to be said filled the stage space. Also in Wilson's last play, the characters are exposed like sculptures: especially the Poetess (the charismatic Agnieszka Wawrzkiewicz), stylized as Marlena Dietrich, as if frozen in motion on a darkened stage.Aram Stern, Theatre for All
In Toruń, unlike in Lithuania, the figure of a poet was embodied by a woman. Agnieszka Wawrzkiewicz. A wonderful actress with a monumental figure and alsostone of voice. No one like her would be able to carry the weight and beauty of this difficult poetry with certainty, to face the demanding incredible inner strength of a brilliant even interpretation of monologues.
