Following sell-out performances, Will Todd and David Simpatico's musical retelling of A Christmas Carol comes to Cadogan Hall for the first time this December. Scored for eight singers, an actor, and a trio of piano, double bass and accordion, Will Todd's enchanting score weaves Victorian carols and the midwinter chimes of handbells through Charles Dickens' timeless ghost story. In a libretto drawn by David Simpatico from the much-loved 1848 novella, we meet Ebenezer Scrooge, the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, and the friends whose kindness teaches him the true meaning of Christmas. Eight of Opera Holland Park's finest principals perform in a semi-staged production directed by Martin Duncan.
