American pianist and composer Conrad Tao joins the Academy of St Martin in the Fields for a programme exploring innovation across American and Classical traditions.
“The kind of musician who is shaping the future of classical music” - New York Magazine
Ruth Crawford Seeger was a genuine pioneer: a composer of fierce originality whose music was decades ahead of its time, heard in Music for Small Orchestra. At the centre, Tao performs Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, alongside the world premiere of his new commission. The evening concludes with Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring (chamber version), evoking wide-open spaces and quiet resilience.
