Venue: Box - It starts in a living room, just like in any sitcom. And ends in delirium.
Oh, mom! is a choreographed multicam production for four actors, in which techniques from musical composition are transferred to the vocabulary of acting. Complex narrative patterns are created not by action, but by rhythmic superposition, phase shifting and finely timed body interactions. Gestures are decoupled from their functions, objects lose their subjects, voices float between lip sync and real speech. The camera no longer assumes the role of a neutral observer, but rather emancipates itself — zooms in, misses, insists. What begins as a sitcom ends in the frenzy of a new, grotesque theatrical language.
Oh, mom! is not a story about family — but a score about its signs. A delirium of rhythms, looks, routines and breaks. A sitcom that makes itself explode in order to build a new model of performative narrative from its rubble.
In his projects between musical theatre, visual arts and performance, composer, multimedia artist and director Nico Sauer explores the limits of musical composition and theatrical genres and, with his project project Ach, Mom! convince the jury of the open call.
