Affection value

Joachim Trier's latest film won the Grand Prix at Cannes and has now broken the Nordic record with 9 Oscar nominations! “Affection Value” follows sisters Nora (Renate Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas), who are reunited with their father Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård) - a former pretty fat director who dreams of a big comeback. Gustav offers Nora the lead role in his new film, but she hesitates, and instead the role goes to a young Hollywood star (Elle Fanning). And so the family drama is otherwise underway -- well helped along the way by formidable acting performances. Joachim Trier directs with wit, warmth and a deceptively light hand, because during the extremely well-written story there are universal themes such as ambition, love and forgiveness. And as has been the case in the director's previous films, languishing, summery Oslo appears almost as an independent character in the story. The film is featured in Biografklub Danmark.
