A dance performance for our fellows of 3—6 years.
In a sensuous space of visual beauty and a gentle soundscape, the dancers dance to moods we all know: loss, love, sorrow and comfort. For a while, the senses, imagination, presence and community take center stage through dance, choreography, soft music and singing -- like being lowered into a hot bath or wrapped well in a big, soft blanket.
The scenography emanates from a bedside universe — a soft, floating and enveloping space. Like stepping into an interior landscape between awake and sleeping, where the fabric can almost remember the light of day.
Light plays a supporting, almost breathable role, with the performance moving through a sunset, into the depths of the night and on towards the first, fledgling sunrise.
Evening song is inspired by the bedtime song “The sun is so red, Mother” — the quiet melancholy and soft reassurance that live side by side in that universe. The feeling of being held while something slowly disappears. Perhaps the light can help carry just that transition — from the familiar to the dreamy.
Remember to book tickets for both adults and children — this is important so that we can ensure the right capacity in relation to fire and safety regulations.
Nønne Mai Svalholm is artistic director of SVALHOLM. Here, hyper-sensory, powerful and visually alluring works are created that awaken the imagination of the audience and place them in the middle of a world that is both fragile and touching, but also full of power, courage and deep existential reflection. Isabella Khanamidi is a freelance dancer, performer and creator based in Malmö. Aftensang is her third production with SVALHOLM, after Red Flags and BREATH. For Khanamidi, movement is a way of mirroring the world. She finds inspiration in interactions between people, from relationships and emotions, and weaves these elements into her artistic practice. Ida Hørlyck is a versatile freelance artist with particular veneration for dance, performance and choreography. In her practice, she often works interdisciplinarily, including as a curator in the trio Kaellingestenen. Elias Khanamidi has toured internationally as a dancer and choreographer with companies such as Ildance and Uppercut Dance Theatre. The outlet for his oeuvre is an enthusiasm for movement, and from this dance emerges as a valuable by-product.
