Charlotte Wells' debut premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and from place to place became the sensation of the season. A personal story about the trip of a father and his teenage daughter on vacation to Turkey is like a piece of paper from the director's diary. This is one of the most beautiful and at the same time the most shocking portraits of parenthood in modern cinema. Wells creates his film from impressions and fleeting emotions, telling about building a father-daughter relationship, puberty, but also illness. A great credit to Paul Mescal, recognized by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with an Oscar nomination, and Frankie Corio, who form one of the most extraordinary father-daughter duos in the history of cinema. Wells uses proven tricks (like home videos), but in a fresh and surprising way. It moves the most tender strings in us.
