About the event

We invite you to an event from the series Meetings with Japan. Academy 60+, a series designed for people over 60. Workshops, lectures and guided tours of the exhibitions introduce the culture of the Land of the Flowering Cherry in an accessible way.

In October, the theme of the 60+ Academy will be chrysanthemum (Japanese kiku) — a flower that in Poland is associated with autumn, and in Japan it is an extremely important symbol. Chrysanthemum is present in the imperial kamon, coat of arms, as well as on the cover of the Japanese passport. Participants will learn about the importance of this plant in Japanese culture and especially its relationship with the imperial family. During the lecture, among others, its use for the characteristic portrayal of the Emperor in the media will be presented. The meeting will end with a workshop on creating paper chrysanthemums.

During the meeting, participants will receive tickets entitling them to visit current exhibitions at the Manggha Museum. Classes will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026 from 1.30pm to 3pm.

Applications are accepted by the reception: by phone at 12 267 27 03, by e-mail at recepcja@manggha.pl or in person at the museum. When registering, please indicate the title and date of the event (“Academy 60+, 23.10”), name, surname, age, telephone contact number or e-mail address of the participant. The cost of participation is PLN 15 per person. Payment is made in person on the day of the meeting at the reception of the main building of the Manggha Museum. We encourage you to book in advance due to the limited number of places (limit: 25 people). A series of classes in Polish.
