Fears (99')
The life of two young dancers from the show theater is far from carefree. Teresa (Hanka Karwowska) and Linka (Jadwiga Andrzejewska) confront the brutal realities of the entertainment world of the 1930s, which does not spare ambitious girls. Equally painful turn out to be relationships with men, taking advantage of the inexperience of girls. The future of the heroines is increasingly in question.
The film entered the history of Polish cinematography as an ambitious attempt to go beyond the schemes of commercial genre cinema. Its production was the responsibility of the Film Authors Cooperative, associated with the struggle for artistic film and socially engaged. It is therefore not surprising that directors Eugeniusz Cękalski and Karol Szołowski turned to the popular and critically acclaimed novel of a distinctly journalistic character by Maria Uknewska.

In the coal mine (11')
A day in the life of miners. The film shows not only the authentic interiors of the mine and the work on the extraction of coal, but also its further processing and the plants operating at the mine. This is one of the early reports of Eugeniusz Cękalski, a creator associated with the Polish film avant-garde. The film was commissioned by the Film Institute of the Polish Telegraphic Agency, which since 1935 has been producing documentaries, including propaganda, sightseeing and didactic films. The reportage In the coal mine in 2022 was digitally restored by FINA.
