Fifties. A small provincial town immersed in a sleepy, lazy atmosphere. The absence of any prospects for a change in the fate of the inhabitants provokes in them a state of chronic chandra. Men mostly spend their time in the pub. The only entertainment is listening to gramophone records and the memories of the oldest inhabitants. The return from the army of Józek Rumša — the son of an old railway worker — who brings his wife Zosie with him, although the faithful Celinka was waiting for him, is added to the rank of the event. This is a violation of local law, but no one can afford the reflex of condemnation. For old Rumsha, the act of a son is an inexplicable meanness, at the same time the end of a certain morality.

Short feature debut by Wojciech J. Haas. The film tells the story of the son of a poor shoemaker who dreams of owning the eponymous accordion. The instrument that he sees in the antique shop becomes for him a symbol of the desire for a better life. He is ready to give everything for him - shoes, jacket and even all his savings. The film shows his inner struggle between dreams and reality, in which he lacks the means to fulfill these desires.
HARMONIA, dir. Wojciech Jerzy Has, Poland 1947, 11'
