This is the first such demonstration of the documentation of the Academy of Movement: in the KINOMUSEUM archival materials will be commented live by the participants of the presented activities.
During the projection, the group members will share memories, context and their own perspective, reacting directly to the images that appear on the screen.
The Academy of Movement, founded in Warsaw in 1973 by Wojciech Krukowski, operated at the intersection of theatre, performance, visual arts and film. In the 1970s, the group moved its activities beyond traditional art spaces — to the streets, to apartments and industrial zones. Their spectators were random passers-by, passengers of public transport or residents.
“Urban Actions of the Academy of Movement 1975-1978” is a documentation of activities in which simple gestures, everyday situations and the presence of actors in the city space became a way of observing and commenting on the social reality of the Polish People's Republic. The event will allow you to see these materials not only as a historical record, but also to listen to the stories of those who co-created it.
