Actively on the trail of the history of Połańce - we discover our heritage

What do history, local stories, activity and exploring our city together have in common? We will soon find out during the initiative “Actively on the Trail of History of Połańca”, implemented by the informal group “Slow Jogging Połaniec”. It is a project that combines cultural education with physical activity. Together with the locals we will discover places important for the history and heritage of Połańce, learn local stories, memories and curiosities and share photographs and knowledge about our small homeland. As part of the initiative, field meetings and workshops will be held with the participation of a local history enthusiast, and the result will be the preparation of three historical boards dedicated to the selected places. They will include, among others, archival photographs, curiosities and QR codes leading to additional materials and recordings of residents.

The culmination of the project will be an intergenerational outdoor event in the formula of slow jogging and walking. Participants will walk the historical route together, learning about the history of Połańce and discovering the local heritage in an active and engaging way.

On October 11, 2026 at 10:00am: Kościuszko Mound The route will be about 6 km long, and during the passage the participants will be accompanied by a slow jogging instructor and a history enthusiast who will talk about the places they pass and their importance for the history of Połańce. On the route we will visit three places of particular importance for the history of Połańce:

Kosciuszko Mound — a place of national memory The Vistula Skarpa — the site of the former church of St. Catherine the site of the former stronghold of the Połaniec region — associated with the oldest history of Połańce This is an initiative for residents of all ages — children, young people, adults and seniors. We invite families, people interested in the history of the region, members of community organizations, enthusiasts of local heritage and everyone who wants to discover together the history of their small homeland.
