Alexander Gertz: In the shadow of drones. As a Ukrainian medic on the front lines

Venue: Rangfoyer - Shortly after the Russian attack on Ukraine, student Alexander Gertz decides to travel to his mother's home country. He is involved in humanitarian aid and joins the army as a medic in autumn 2023. At the front, he experiences unimaginable things. And finally starts writing them down.

The son actually wanted to become a Ukrainian-Russian late emigrant diplomat in order to make the world a safer place. In Donbass, he meets horror. His report on the everyday life of a war, which is slowly disappearing from the headlines and continues with unbridled brutality, is intended to stir things up. And he won't let you go anytime soon.

“, We need to get out of here. Go on, I whisper to the others and get moving. Deeper into the undergrowth. Somewhere, the main thing is not here. We zigzag through the bushes. We hear gunfire behind us. Are they meant for us? Faster, we must move on. Sweat runs down my forehead and mixes with the blood. No formation, no plan, just gone.”
