Set in the aftermath of WWII, Takashi Yamazaki’s take on the classic channels the tone and energy of the original Godzilla from 1954, unleashing a terrifying creation upon a nation seeking to rebuild after unfathomable trauma.
Ryunosuke Kamiki plays a pilot plagued with shame and survivor’s guilt. Meanwhile, a giant monster mutates following nuclear tests, and Japan must wrestle with a new horror.
Featuring excellent performances and Oscar-winning visual effects, Takashi Yamazaki, who also wrote the screenplay and supervised the VFX, scored a triumph with this masterly film. We can’t wait to see what he does with the imminent sequel.
