Alpha Maid The guitarist and songwriter Alpha Maid in Southeast London presents her latest album Is this a Queue, which was released in October 2025 via AD 93.

Starting from frustration with the predictable and monotonous narratives and systems under which we live — and the feeling that these rules are also the rules of the universe — Alpha Maid developed an interest in particle physics.

“We only know 4% of the universe. There is hope in the unknown 96%. That sparked enthusiasm and amazement in me. The theories I worked on were based much more on the conditions of the present moment. As a result, the idea of living in the here and now became more tangible for me. It suddenly seemed possible to look at the present from very different perspectives and to have endless opportunities to decide where you would like to be next. ”

The album, created over many years and at various locations, documents a journey and the people Alpha Maid met along the way. It collects snapshots of the present and combines them to form an overall picture. Her guitar forms a constant thread amidst diverse sonic influences: from dub, which honors her Jamaican roots and the generation of the Windrush generation, to the echoes of an emo love song in On Smoke.

Is this a queue celebrates the magic of the invisible and everything that eludes our clear comprehension — as well as the stories that have been reduced and simplified so that they fit into existing patterns of interpretation. Remembering, continuing, forgetting, attention, building, orientation, participation and time are the themes that run through the album.

Dylan Kerr & Madeline Stepien Madeline Stepien is a sound artist living in New York City. In her work, she explores sound as a tool for perceptual and emotional manipulation. Dylan Kerr, performance artist and singer, lives in Berlin. Using process-oriented methods, microtonality, and advanced singing techniques, Kerr explores the compositions of psychoacoustic phenomena such as interference patterns, combination tones, and the interplay of voice and space.

In their joint artistic practice, Dylan acts as a sound source, while Madeline conceals the sound: She edits Dylan's voice and instruments in real time. A process of transmutation that destabilizes, fans out, and distorts sounds.
