Political thriller, theatrical “Black Mirror” with the iconic Go match in the background. This is the clash of the Korean master - a representative of humanity - with the AlphaGo program, created by Google DeepMind. A spectacular battle for world domination, played out at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul, featuring performers and artists from Warsaw, Seoul, London and New York.
Year 2016, Seoul. In the newly built Four Seasons Hotel, a historic duel takes place: Korean Go board game master Lee Sedol faces off against the computer program AlphaGo, based on artificial intelligence. The human player carries on his shoulders the burden of representing all of humanity. After his third defeat in a row, during a press conference, he says:
“I think I disappointed too many of you this time. I would like to ask forgiveness for my powerlessness. I have never felt such pressure, such a burden. I think I was too weak to overcome it.”
The “epochal match” was organized by Google DeepMind of London, the creator of Alphago, to generate global media interest and set the stage for Google's planned return to the Chinese market at the time. The precisely planned PR campaign reached millions of audiences around the world, creating a symbolic moment of the ultimate human failure in the confrontation with AI.
