Alte Liebe

Film adaptation of the bestseller by Elke Heidenreich and Bernd Schröder.

Since retiring, Harry (Joachim Król) only grumbles about, drinks wheat beer and cultivates his delphinium. Find Lore (Dagmar Manzel). She clings to her job as a librarian, organizes embarrassing readings and worships her poets like prophets. Find Harry. For an old couple, they talk a surprising amount — and yet they usually mean something else. When daughter Julia wants to marry for the third time, the dispute is programmed and yet only the tip of the iceberg. A lot accumulates in forty years of marriage. It's bubbling beneath the surface: unspoken questions, old jealousy, the dispute over Harry's phlegm and the meaning of a high-pressure cleaner. While Harry nurtures his garden, Lore dreams of another life, of traveling, of departure. She feels powerless and asks herself more and more urgently: Is that all? What opportunities did she miss out on? Is it too late to make a fresh start at over sixty? Harry drinks his beer, smokes, remains silent. And yet notice their distress. A clever love story about two people who meet again after forty years of marriage. Snappy, ironic, sentimental, cheerful and delicate.
