“Always Lalisa” is a feature length documentary that follows international superstar LISA during a formative year away from Blackpink — the K-pop sensation that has made her one of the most famous artists in the world. While the group is taking a break, LISA begins the first real chapter of her solo career and the search for her identity beyond Blackpink. The film follows LISA as she writes, records and releases her first solo album “Alter Ego”, her acting debut in the third season of “The White Lotus” and the preparations for her first major solo appearance at the Coachella Music Festival 2025. LISA was born and grew up in Thailand. At the age of 14, she left her home country to complete the demanding K-pop training in South Korea and finally rose to international superstar. But making their own way, particularly on the western music market, entails new challenges, the relentless public eye and the task of determining their own identity. Intimate, emotional and insightful, “Always Lalisa” accompanies an artist at a turning point and documents a year full of daring, new beginnings and self-discovery, in which LISA not only defines her next chapter, but also which woman and artist she wants to become.
