Amadeus

The gripping story of musical genius Mozart (Tom Hulce) and his jealous opponent Salieri (F. Murray Abraham) is Forman's eight-time Oscar-winning grand play and one of the best costume films in the history of cinema. Set in 18th-century Vienna, a passionate, angry, and exhilarating duel takes place between two heroes who share almost everything — except for their love of beautiful music. Epic cinema, outstanding soundtrack, stunning opera, humor and suspenseful drama: “Amadeus” is a spectacle for all time — and a spectacle of all time.

Restored in 4K, “Amadeus” had its premiere in May 2024 in Hollywood. The Academy has prepared a digitally renewed copy of the film, unavailable for nearly a quarter of a century and considered the best theatrical version of the film.
