Formidable folk-brother duo gives concert in VEGA
“We are twins but don't look like it. One of us doesn't swim, one of us doesn't cook.” This is how brothers Josef and Jan Prasil present with a wry look their joint duo Amistat on Bandcamp.
Nevertheless, the pair, who have Czech and Australian roots and grew up in Germany and Italy, have a very special bond when making music.
The pair of brothers find inspiration in classic singer/songwriter names such as Simon & Garfunkel and Cat Stevens and modern heiresses such as Ben Howard, Kings of Convenience and Kodaline. This is felt in Amistat's beautiful and poignant folk anthems, where the synergy between Josef and Jan's vocals is glowing, the interaction telepathic and the experience goosebump-inducing.
Amistat debuted in 2016 with the organically endearing album Parley and has since released a number of EPs. At the same time, they have appeared in almost every corner of the world map — from Australia and South Africa to the United States, Canada and Europe.
In 2024, Amistat gave excellent concert in a complete sold out Little VEGA. Now the brothers are pregnant with a new EP, Everything in Between, which will be released in September, and subsequently they will embark on an international tour.
On November 24, they will make a stop in Denmark, where they will give their biggest concert so far at home in Store VEGA.
