Silent Green presents
Ana Roxanne Born and raised in the Bay Area, composer and singer Ana Roxanne now lives in New York. Most recently, on Poem 1, her second album and most personal work to date, she worked on heartbreak and sorrow. The mixture of decelerated jazz, minimalism and vocal folk forms, characterized by a keen sense for ambient music, unfolds like a cathartic process. Hope is found in the subtlety, slowness, and smoky melancholy of the piano motifs, the vulnerable vocal lines and raptured synthesizer drones.
Roxanne grew up with an enthusiasm for jazz, R&B and classical music — influenced by the Bay Area radio programs as well as by her parents' record collection. After studying music, she joined a choir program that took her around the USA. However, a trip to Uttarakhand in India, where she learned traditional singing techniques of Hindustan music, changed her musical outlook permanently. After returning to the USA, she enrolled at Mills College in Oakland and began to develop her characteristic sound. She released her first sound experiments in 2015 on her debut EP ~~~, which initially only circulated among friends. The Leaving Records label discovered the recordings and re-released them in 2019 — the meditative yet comforting pieces were very well received by both audiences and critics.
A year later, Roxanne signed with the label Kranky and released her first regular album with Because of a Flower. She then combined the musical influences of an entire life with personal pain and created songs that combine dream pop with new age sounds from the US West Coast, trip hop and classical music — and at the same time bear an exceptionally intimate signature.
Since 2022, Ana Roxanne has also worked as a composer, including for film. Together with sound researcher Bernie Krause, she developed The Great Animal Orchestra, a commissioned work for the Fondation Cartier. She recently composed the film music for the feature film First Light (2026) together with director James L. Robinson. She also reinterpreted Beverly Glenn-Copeland's timeless song Old Melody for the Keyboard Fantasies Reimagined project in 2021 and collaborated with Brian Piñeyro (DJ Python) on the Natural Wonder Beauty Concept album.
Clarice Clarice is Emma Weber's minimalistic and experimental folk music project. In her compositions, she combines voice, sound and silence and explores music in its most intuitive form. Whether alone or in collaboration with nature and friends — their creative process is characterized by attentive listening and joint creation. She is also part of the band project Life.
She is accompanied by Finn Kraft for her appearance at Silent Green.
