About the event

Sit down with your loved ones in the cinema, because the 20th retransmission of André Rieu's summer concert from Maastricht awaits you! Yes, yes... In July 2026, Maestro and his beloved Johann Strauss Orchestra will once again perform at the Vrijthof, the famous square of this charming medieval town. The King of Waltz and his guests will play for the 20th time for tens of thousands of lovers of good music who come here every year from all over the world. Fortunately, this wonderful summer evening will be broadcast already in the fall to cinemas around the world. So you will be treated to a screening full of charming waltzes and marches by Johann Strauss father and son, but also songs from the famous musicals “My Fair Lady” or “Miserables”, as well as other hits, such as Ennia Morricone's “Gabriel Oboe” from the film “Mission”. In addition to the Platinum Tenors and internationally renowned Sopranos, there will also be celebrities who have never performed at the Vrijthof before. It will be a spectacular jubilee! New show “Long live Maastricht!” is a joyful tribute to Maestro's hometown, where it all began. 20 years ago André Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra performed for the first time at the Vrijthof. The medieval square then turned into a gleaming open-air ballroom. The audience listened to the first concert of its kind, all under the summer sky, strewn with twinkling stars. The success was incredible, especially since the whole thing was rebroadcast to cinemas. Now the waltz “On the beautiful blue Danube” and “Radetzky's March” will sound to audiences around the world for the twentieth time. “I am very excited about this jubilee. In July of this year, I will play our summer concert in Maastricht for the 20th time,” says André Rieu. “I hope that the unique atmosphere of Vrijthof, the oldest square in the Netherlands, will once again touch the hearts and souls of all spectators. It is fantastic that this concert will also be seen in cinemas around the world, including Poland, and already in autumn. I am sure he will please you as much as me and my orchestra. Long live Maastricht!” For Polish viewers, the retransmission will be conducted as usual by Maja Jasińska, who is not only a flute player in the Johann Strauss Orchestra, but also an incomparable ambassador of the whole project. Thanks to her, we will look behind the scenes and listen to an interview with André Rieu, conducted by her exclusively for Polish moviegoers. Duration: about 170 minutes including one break
