We invite you to the Library of Knowledge for a meeting with Robert Gondek, who will take us on a trip to Angola. The traveler will present you with the story of one of the most intense, diverse and moving journeys on the African continent. It is a meeting about people, space, tradition, the raw beauty of landscapes and everyday life, which looks completely different from ours.
Angola was a long journey, strong and full of contrasts. Twenty days on the road, 4,362 kilometers by car and 18,568 kilometers by plane. In the dust, under the stars, in the silence of deserted areas and in the bustle of cities. Under tents, in simple hotels, in luxurious lodges, often without electricity, baths and toilets.
The most important part of this trip was meeting people. Robert spent his nights in the settlements of the tribes that inhabited the south of Angola: Mwila, Ndengelengo, Dimba, Mucubal, Himba and Handa. Angola also impresses with its scenery. During the show we will see, among other things, the mighty Calandula waterfalls, the unusual rock formations of Pedras Negras de Pungo Andongo, the lunar landscape of Miradouro da Lua, the Serra da Leba serpentines, the Tundavala Gap viewpoint and the Lagoa dos Arcos.
One of the most spectacular places on this trip is Red Rocks Canyon. If you get there at the right time, just before sunset, the red rocks begin to burn with colors and create a landscape that is hard to forget. It is one of those places that can keep a person in silence. The story also features Morro de Môco, Angola's highest mountain. It is a remote, quiet place, devoid of crowds and tourist bustle.
During the meeting, Robert Gondek will show author's photos and videos from Angola and talk about unusual moments spent in the country, which still remains one of the less obvious destinations of travel in Africa. It will be a story about people who live as if at the end of the world, about landscapes that surprise with their scale and colors, and about a journey that remains in the memory for a long time.
“Angola — Life at the End of Africa” is a show for people curious about Africa less known, authentic, raw and very diverse. It's a story of encounters that move, places that delight, and a journey where every day brings something unexpected.
