About the event

We kindly inform you that spectators who leave the hall during the performance will not be able to return to the auditorium.

We would like to inform you that acoustic and light effects are used in the performance.

The play “Aniołka Mussolini” is the fourth production of Katarzyna Zielińska and a group of her regular collaborators (director Łukasz Czuj, composer Marcin Partyka, songwriter Michał Chński, choreographer Paulina Andrzejewska-Damięcka) realized on the Nova Stage of the Roma Theatre. After the excellent performances “Berlin Four in the Morning”, “Sofia de Magico” and “New York. Prohibition” this time the creators invite us on a journey to fascist Italy of the late 1930s and early 1940s.

Mussolini's Angels (written by Robert Urbański and Michał Chński) is a dramatic musical story about the fate of the Lescano Trio — the most famous Italian vocal trio from the 1930s and 1940s. The three Leschan sisters, daughters of a Dutch operetta singer of Jewish origin and a Hungarian acrobat, began a spectacular career in Italy in 1935 after their childhood in the circus and continued it during the heyday of fascism — despite their Jewish roots. When their compatriots and neighbors disappeared, taken to Nazi concentration camps, they entertained the Duce himself with their singing. After the war, they tried to create a legend about their arrest and persecution by the fascist authorities.

The story of “Trio Lescano” is a moving family drama set against the background of a great story and above all a story about the price you have to pay for an affair with power. This is a pretext for questions about whether an artist can, can and should remain independent and whether he should use every opportunity to make a career — especially when tragedy, hypocrisy and violence lurk behind the facade of carefree dolce vita.

On stage we see excellent actresses: Katarzyna Zielińska, Ewa Prus, Barbara Kurdej-Szatan/Monika Dryl, and Marcin Przybylski/Mariusz Ostrowski together with them. The actors are accompanied by a five-piece band playing live. The sound layer consists of original songs performed by Trio Lescano in contemporary arrangements by Marcin Partyka and new songs composed by him especially for this performance.
