Angels are among us | vernissage

The exhibition will present works from various fields of visual arts, which are the result of daily therapeutic work in a dozen Environmental Self-Help Houses from the Lublin Voivodeship; as well as objects that are the fruit of the implementation of two projects promoting the creative activity of people with disabilities — Angels are among us (2024) and In the circle of blossoming talents (2025).).

Community Self-Help Homes are day support centers for people with disabilities, including people with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum, as well as mental disorders and dementia problems. An important area of activity of ŚDS is to develop the passion and interests of the Participants through creative activities, during which artistic, handicraft, plastic and photographic works are created.

Due to the types of disability of the Participants and the activity profile of the centers, in each of the Environmental Self-Help Houses invited to cooperation there is a different specificity of therapeutic work, and the methods and techniques of artistic expression used are diverse in terms of possibilities, needs, emotions and experiences.

The scale of the commitment to the creation of the exhibition, both on the part of the Creators and the entire community of the individual centers, emphasizes the significant role of the Environmental Self-Help Houses in the network of social support and the local community.

Public tasks (projects) were prepared and implemented by the Association of Friends of the Special Educational Center No. 1 in Lublin, together with the “Absolwent” Environmental Self-Help House, in cooperation with the Regional Center for Social Policy in Lublin.

Public tasks financed from the funds of the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons granted by the Local Government of the Lublin Voivodeship.
