About the event

To mark Anna Freud’s birthday, join us for Dear Papa, a special reading by Ruth Rosen, who will also share personal memories of knowing Anna Freud.

A celebrated performer of poetry and prose and a long-time Hampstead resident, Ruth will bring to life a selection of Anna Freud’s letters, offering a rare and intimate glimpse into the relationship between father and daughter.

Through Anna’s own words and Ruth’s personal memories, this special event offers an intimate opportunity to reflect on Anna Freud, her relationship with her father and her remarkable life and legacy.

Ruth Rosen

Since leaving the Royal Shakespeare Company Ruth Rosen has established a unique international reputation for her highly individualised literary portraits and has appeared at many major national and international festivals and theatres. Her current solo shows include “Bright Star” based on the poems and letters of John Keats, and “Man Without a Mask”, the poetry, prose, letters and other writings of William Blake. “Daggers Drawn’”– from the Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci and Sonnets and Letters of Michelangelo – is in collaboration with Martin Kemp.
