What does a line break mean? A comma in the right place? A particular choice of words? The right metaphor? Together with translator Mathilde Moestrup, we read all the details of Anne Carson's challenging and rewarding texts.
Elevate your reading experienceYou don't have to read from home and it takes nothing but a desire to read. We hand out texts, read up and try to understand what it is that for the clockwork of literature to get. Together we give the reading experience a boost.
Nobel Prize 2026Anne Carson (b. 1950) is one of the most inspiring voices in contemporary literature. Therefore, it was also no great surprise that she received the Nobel Prize in Literature in October this year. Her poems, essays and reproductions are a rich reservoir of wisdom, linguistic elegance, passion and great emotion.
Rebekah Bundgaard, culture editor at Atlas, writes of Anne Carson that “her books are little treasures. Not because they describe the beauty of life, but because every single sentence feels like a gift you can wrap up a thousand times over, and it will still feel new. Partly because of their originality (all Anne Carson's phrases make one think: no one has written this phrase before) and their many layers (Anne Carson never talks to herself. Every single page in her books is always in dialogue with other literature.”
“Anne Carson” is organized in cooperation with the media ATLAS Magasin and Søljeton, who jointly run the literary newsletter Læsevær. Read more and sign up here.
