Screaming is a project about screaming as screaming. In collaboration with friends, colleagues and experts, Antonia Bähr explores this expression as an independent entity, detached from the ballast of causal relationships and understandable language. The focus is on the matter itself: the sound and the form, the music, the choreography and the drama, the rhythm and the gesture — and last but not least the silent, silent scream.
The laboratory series brings together friends, colleagues and experts who are dedicated to screaming in a practical, performative or scientific way. Vocalists, composers, performers, queer/feminist activists and anthropologists are invited to work with screaming and share their knowledge within the group.
Performative research presentations take place in parallel, in which Bähr performs scream scores written for Bähr. There, Antonia Bähr presents four of each of these pieces in the presence of their authors and in the forms they intended. In St. Sophia Church, these include pieces by Ute Wassermann, Pauline Boudry & Renate Lorenz, Iz Öztat and Neo Hülcker.
