About the event

Arek Weremczuk from Parczew, Podlubelski, was the only Polish designer in history to climb to the very top. In 2015 — deceived by his associates, disappointed by the business fiasco in Poland and the world of high fashion — he announced his death and rebirth as AFKAA (Artist Formerly Known As Arkadius). Today she lives in Salvador, Brazil, and shies away from the fashion industry, considering it a liar and fatal to the planet. As he said in an interview with “High Heels”: “he is nobody and he is happy.”

“Arkadius is dead” is a play inspired by the character of a designer, balancing between biography and literary fantasy about a boy from a Polish province who tries to break out of small-town restrictions and reach for fame. The uncompromising world of fashion becomes a metaphor for aggressive capitalism, and the spectacular visuals of the shows and spectacular costumes build a story of big dreams that collide with the reality of exploitation.

Is it possible to escape from a system that tempts, absorbs and destroys at the same time?
