Honored at the Concours de Genève and at the ARD Competition, the Armida Quartet, named after the title heroine of a Haydn opera, is one of the most renowned German string quartets after 20 years together.
Between Beethoven's very first quartet from 1799 and Schubert's famous late string quartet “Rosamunde”, in whose second movement a melody from his acting music of the same name is varied, the four strings have placed “Entr'acte” a contemporary piece by Caroline Shaw inspired by Viennese classical music.
Program: Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet in F major op. 18 No. 1; Caroline Shaw: “Entr'acte” for string quartet; Franz Schubert: String Quartet in A minor op. 29 D 804 (“Rosamunde”)
