ARTEMIS

ARTEMIS is a quintet founded in 2017 by pianist and composer Renee Rosnes, bringing together instrumentalists from different countries. Each of them also leads their own teams and has a rich author's work. Blue Note will be joined by trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, tenor saxophonist Nicole Glover, double bassist Noriko Ueda and drummer Allison Miller.

The name of the band comes from the name of the Greek goddess Artemis. His character is determined by five distinct musical personalities and the pleasure of playing together. In the sound of ARTEMIS, rhythm and complex instrumental parts are clearly marked, but there is also room for melodic lightness. NPR appreciated both the performance and composition class of the female artists, as well as their modern, cosmopolitan approach to jazz.

“Arboresque”, the third quintet album for Blue Note Records, features compositions by all members and new arrangements of the classical repertoire. “The Guardian” ranked it among the top ten jazz albums of 2025, noting the cliché-free individuality and agreement between female musicians. In May of the same year, ARTEMIS performed in the Tiny Desk Concerts series, and their music reaches an ever wider audience at concerts and festivals around the world.

For three consecutive years, from 2023 to 2025, readers of DownBeat magazine chose ARTEMIS as Jazz Band of the Year. In 2024 and 2025, the quintet also received the Jazz Journalists Association distinction in the Mid-Size Ensemble of the Year category.
