ARTIFICA is a theatrical dance work exploring the origins and ethical consequences of artificial intelligence through movement, memory and storytelling. Shown from the perspective of a future artificial being, the work goes back in time, reconstructing the memories of Louise — the granddaughter of the “father of AI” — in search of her own origins.
Performed by five dancers taking on multiple characters, the show unfolds in three intertwined time layers: a futuristic present, a fictional love story set in Japan of the Edo era, and an intimate past where the first AI codes were created. Distinct movement languages, musical worlds and theatrical spaces come together through solos and duets to eventually come together in a common dance. Combining dance, theatre and storytelling, ARTIFICA invites viewers to reflect on human ambition, the act of creation, and whether humanity is truly in control of its own evolution.
