About the event
We invite you to a unique and unique event! On March 20, the world-famous baritone Artur Ruciński will perform on the stage of the Opera na Zamek. Austrian magazine FESTSPIELE has included Artur Ruciński among the 20 best opera singers in the world! His constant presence on stages in New York, Paris, Madrid and Vienna confirms his position among the leading opera baritones of our time. The artist, who spends 80 percent of the year on tour — will celebrate the jubilee year of the Opera at the Castle in Szczecin with a concert composed of masterpieces of opera classics. The program will feature music (arias and duets) by Giuseppe Verdi, Vincenzo Bellini and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Artur Ruciński will be accompanied by Marta Mazanek-Matuszewska coloratura soprano, a talented young singer, winner of many vocal competitions. The Opera Orchestra at the Castle will play under the baton of Agnieszka Nagórka. Artur Ruciński is one of the most recognized and successful Polish opera singers in the world (in the 2009/2010 season the Austrian magazine “Festspiele” included him in the list of the 20 most important artists); in recent years he has gained international fame, and his vocal artistry is recognized by the audience and critics, opening the way for him to the largest and most prestigious opera stages. In 2016, he made his debut on the New York Metropolitan Opera in the role of Sharpless in Puccini's Madame Butterfly. Since then, he has appeared at the MET in dozens of performances, and Manon Massenet and Lucia from Lammermoor with his participation have been broadcast in cinemas around the world in the series “The Metropolitan Opera Live in HD”. However, the turning point in his career turned out to be the moment when maestro Daniel Barenboim heard him and immediately invited him to sing in Eugene Onegin under his baton at the Berlin Staatsoper. Ruciński's stage partners are the most famous singers on a daily basis, and the performances and concerts in which he sings are conducted by the most outstanding bandmasters. Hailed as one of the best Verdi baritones of our time, he has performed in many of the world's most important opera houses and concert halls, from San Francisco to New York, Madrid, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Vienna, Milan, Zurich, London and Tokyo. Artur Ruciński devotes part of his full schedule to concert activities, radio and television performances and participation in festivals, among others in Warsaw, Paris, Oslo, Dresden, Vienna and Berlin, performing such masterpieces of the oratoric-cantata repertoire as Stabat Mater Szymanowski, Carmin Buran Orff or songs by Gustav Mahler accompanied by an orchestra. Numerous audio and video recordings document the versatility of this unique artist. Music journalist Karl Lobl wrote of his performance in Carmina Burana: “Baritone — discovery in Vienna's Musikverein — remember the name: Artur Ruciński and go to every opera where this singer can be heard.”
