A wave of interest in the French writer and thinker Simone Weil goes through Europe in these years. Many find that her texts about what industrialization and technology do to our attention are words for the time and that with concepts such as “rooting” she addresses the essence of contemporary times.
In this reading club, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in her universe by reading and discussing The Great Expectation. It is a personal, intense and considered scripture about waiting for God, about faith and doubt, the love of nearness and prayer. The book moves from the very personal and biographical to the theological-philosophical to a very concrete meditation on Fatherhood. The book is a collection of letters and texts that Weil sent and gave to the Dominican priest, Father Joseph-Marie Perrin. Unfortunately a Danish translation difficult to find both antiquarian and in the library. But we have been allowed to use a PDF version of it. It can be downloaded here.
The Reading Club will meet 3 times:
