Matthäikirchplatz, 10785 Berlin, Berlin

Between 1580 and 1660, the new, powerful visual language of Flemish Baroque developed, which was characterized by passionate feelings and intense colors. The exhibition focuses on outstanding drawings by the three great protagonists Peter Paul Rubens, Jacob Jordaens and Anton van Dyck. They are supplemented by works by pioneers, employees and contemporaries, so that a dense network of professional relationships develops. Almost all of the drawings on display are integrated into larger work contexts: Whether as a quick sketch of ideas, a detailed composition draft or a precise individual study — they prepared paintings, copper engravings or tapestries and still directly illustrate the creative process today.
